Biology: Occurs singly or in small groups around coral outcrops of clear outer reef slopes. Males are territorial and haremic (Ref. 9710). Total length for females from Masuda & Allen, 1993 (Ref. 9137)

Uses: no uses
Comments: Type locality: Ambon (Ref. 48635). Known from Flores and the Moluccas. Abundant on coastal reefs (Ref. 9710). Also recorded from Raja Ampat Islands, Bali, Komodo, Manado and vicinity, Sangalakki Island and Togean and Banggai Islands; with an Indonesian distribution from Papua to Kalimantan (Ref. 47567).
