 Family:  Gymnotidae (Naked-back knifefishes)
 Max. size:  31.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  South America: Amazon and Orinoco River basins, and related areas in northern South America.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal soft rays: 227-303; Vertebrae: 79-80. Numerous dark oblique bands on body (23-51, usually over 30), alternating with pale bands. Distance between tip of pectoral fin and origin of anal fin more than one pectoral fin length (rare, even).
