 Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Symphurinae
 Max. size:  12 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 20 - 1140 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Angola, St. Helena and Ascension islands northwards to Portugal (including Azores) and Mediterranean.
 Biology:  Occurs on mud or sand bottoms of the continental slope and shelf (Ref. 2683).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
