 Family:  Nototheniidae (Cod icefishes)
 Max. size:  24 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 0 - 732 m
 Distribution:  Southern Ocean: Scotia Arc, South Orkney Islands, Davis and Ross seas.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 32-35; Anal soft rays: 29-31. Brownish with 2 or 3 large dark spots, part of spinous dorsal blackish (Ref. 11892).
 Biology:  Adults live on seafloor and spawns during summer (Ref. 45168). They feed primarily on errant polychaetes, with lesser amounts of amphipods, fish eggs and mollusks.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
