Vertebrae: 25. This species is distinguished from its congener in having the following set of characters: body slender, 2.7-3.4 in SL (mean 3.0); when fresh, upper margin of dorsal-fin rays reddish; soft anal-fin rays 14-15 (usually 15); pored lateral-line scales 34-35 (mode 34) (Ref. 93115).
