Espinas dorsales (total): 0; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 80-87; Espinas anales 0; Radios blandos anales: 59 - 65. Diagnosis: flat and asymmetric body; both eyes on left side of body, except in reversed individuals; hind margin of preopercle free and visible with naked eye; dorsal and anal fins lacking spinous rays; dorsal fin originating above or before dorsal eye; caudal fin separate from dorsal and anal fins; single lateral line on eyed side, absent or camouflaged on blind side (Ref. 81290).
