Etymology: Pseudojuloides: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, iouis = a fish without identification, perhaps some of genus Coris cited by Plinius + Greek, oides = similar to (Ref. 45335).   More on author: Randall.

Marine; reef-associated; non-migratory; depth range 52 - 57 m (Ref. 2140).   Tropical, preferred ?

Indo-Pacific: thus far known only from Mauritius (Ref. 4392) and Seychelles (Ref. 10685). Randall 1986 (Ref. 4392) however does not discount the possibility of its existence in the Indo-Pacific region.
