Short description
Dorsal spines (total): 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15 - 16; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 15 - 16. This species is very similar to P. vaiuli except for its abruptly white tail, a bluish snout, interorbital and forehead and a generally reddish ground color.
Biology
    Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)
Occurs solitarily or in small groups in lagoons, reef flats, passages, and outer reef slopes. Usually amongst coarse rubble or rock (Ref. 48636). Feeds primarily on algae, but also takes copepods, isopods, and pelagic tunicates.
