Known from Fitzroy River, W. Australia to Burnett River, Qld. (Ref. 7300). Presumably unauthorized introduction in Lake Eacham (Ref. 32711). Known from Mulgrave river, Wet Tropics, Northern Queensland (Ref. 40054); lower Burdekin River (Ref. 40171). Recorded from Lake Bariene on the Atherton Tablelands, north-eastern Queensland and Mackay (Qld) (Ref. 44894). Also Ref. 2847, 84364.
