Diagnosis |
Diagnosis: flat and asymmetric body; both eyes on left side of body, except in reversed individuals; hind margin of preopercle free and visible with naked eye; dorsal and anal fins lacking spinous rays; dorsal fin originating above or before dorsal eye; caudal fin separate from dorsal and anal fins; single lateral line on eyed side, absent or camouflaged on blind side (Ref. 81290). Description: body depth 45-50% SL; HL comprised three times in SL; interorbital space narrow and slightly concave; hind end of maxilla extending to below centre of eye; body covered with cycloid or weakly ctenoid scales; gill rakers long and slender (Ref. 81290). Colouration: eyed side brown, with dark spots along dorsal and anal fins; white spot at base of caudal fin, as well as on upper and lower caudal-fin rays; dorsal and anal fins with series of dark spots; blind side entirely whitish (Ref. 81290). |
