    Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)
Inhabits areas with firm substrate (sand and rock) (Ref. 4983). Gut contents showed that this species preys on a variety of invertebrate animals and possibly even small fish. Predominant food organisms were insects (esp. dipterous larvae but also Ephemeroptera & Trichoptera larvae). The non-insect food were fish, oligochaete worms, prawns, plant tissue, ostracods, and fragments of lamellibranchs & gastropod shells (Ref. 558).
